Which throughput figure should I use?
The headline "firewall throughput" is measured under ideal conditions. Size on the "threat protection" or "NGFW" figure, measured with IPS and application control enabled.
Does it work without a licence?
Basic firewalling usually works, but IPS signatures, antivirus and web-filtering updates depend on an active subscription. Choose the bundle and term at purchase.
One appliance or two?
The firewall carries all traffic, so for critical services a pair of identical units in high-availability mode is recommended — one failure should not cut connectivity.
