Optics & transceivers
Optics and transceivers are small, but an incompatible one can take down a whole link. This section covers SFP, SFP+, SFP28 and QSFP28 modules and DAC/AOC cables. To choose correctly, specify speed, fibre type (single-mode or multimode), distance and the exact switch model.
Optics & transceivers: supplied on request
No products from this category are listed online yet, but we can supply them through our partner network and international sourcing. Send the model or part number to get a USD price and lead time.
Check any part number straight from the vendor
Specs come from HPE PartSurfer and the official Cisco, Dell, Lenovo, Juniper, Fortinet, APC sites and more — including HPE spare-part lists — and you can request a USD price with the Toman equivalent right there.
Choosing Optics & transceivers: what to check
Points worth knowing before you buy or request a quote. Any other questions can go in the request form for our technical partners to answer.
What is the difference between SR, LR and ER?
SR is for multimode fibre over short distances (typically up to a few hundred metres). LR runs on single-mode to about 10 km and ER to about 40 km. Both ends of a link must match.
Original or compatible optics?
Original optics are recognised without fuss and covered by vendor support. Compatible optics cost less but must be coded for that brand — some platforms disable unknown modules. State which you want in the request.
DAC, AOC or transceiver + fibre?
For very short in-rack or adjacent-rack runs, DAC is the cheapest and lowest-power option. AOC reaches tens of metres and is lighter. For longer runs or patch panels, transceivers plus fibre are more flexible.
