Datacenter equipment price index
USD equipment prices move slowly, but Toman prices shift with every FX swing. This index separates the two.
With no change in USD prices, the Toman cost of this basket moved +1.6% over 30 days — purely because of the dollar rate.
The index launches when the reference basket is complete
For the index to be meaningful and not swing on a handful of items, it needs at least 20 reference products with verified USD prices across servers, storage, switching, optics and power. We never invent prices; the index fills with real ones.
Method: median USD price per category × today’s rate vs the same median × the rate 30 days ago; the difference is the pure FX effect.
Why we price in USD — and how the Toman figure is calculated
Most datacenter equipment sellers in Iran hide prices because the exchange rate changes daily and yesterday’s Toman price is invalid today. We chose the opposite: every product’s base price is in USD — the currency it trades in globally — and its Toman equivalent is recalculated every minute at the free-market rate.
The result: the price you see is always current, comparable with other offers, and you can budget on a stable dollar figure.
- 01
Rate source
The primary rate comes from tgju (free-market dollar) and is cross-checked against bonbast and alanchand; if tgju is unavailable, the median of the fallback sources is used.
- 02
Every minute
Rates are fetched every minute. A jump of more than 15 % versus the last good rate is rejected as bad data. If the rate is more than 30 minutes old you see a “stale rate” badge.
- 03
Rounding
The Toman equivalent is rounded to the nearest 10,000 Toman so figures stay readable and comparable.
- 04
When the invoice is fixed
The USD price is fixed for the offer’s validity. The Toman amount is calculated at the moment the proforma invoice is issued and locked for the proforma’s validity.
Pricing & payment questions
Why are prices quoted in US dollars?
Almost all datacenter equipment is imported and priced in dollars globally. Quoting in USD means the price you see does not go stale with currency swings, and you can always see it in Toman at the live rate — so instead of hiding prices we keep them transparent and comparable.
How is the Toman equivalent calculated?
USD price × the live free-market dollar rate (primary source tgju, cross-checked with bonbast and alanchand), rounded to the nearest 10,000 Toman. The rate refreshes every minute; if it is more than 30 minutes old a "stale rate" badge appears. Details on the market & prices page.
When is the Toman amount on the invoice fixed?
The USD price of an offer is fixed for its validity period. The Toman amount is calculated at the rate when the proforma invoice is issued and locked for the proforma’s validity (usually the same business day); pay within that window and FX moves do not affect you.
Why do some products say "price on request"?
We never publish made-up prices. When the price depends on configuration, quantity, live stock or the supply route, we quote on request with an exact USD offer instead of an unrealistic number.
Do I pay in Toman? Is an official invoice issued?
Yes, payment is in rial/Toman inside Iran. The official invoice is issued by the partner company that fulfils your order; the issuing company is named in the offer before you pay.
